The Ellsworth bicycle company has just released The Ride, a snazzy new bicycle that does away with all those crazy gears and instead uses their brand-new invention, the "NuVinci CVP drive", which stands for "Continuously Variable Planetary" drive. What does it mean? No more shifting gears, no more torn pant-cuffs, and no more stopping to re-seat a chain that's jumped off the teeth of the gear. The CVP smoothly changes the power ratio for you as you increase or decrease speed.
